Help keep the light burning.
This December, we are asking you to help keep that light shining with a generous year-end gift to the Lampstand Initiative before December 31.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.”Matthew 5:14–15
Jesus told his followers that nobody lights a lamp and then hides it under a basket. You set it on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. Then he looked at the ordinary people in front of him and said, “You are the light of the world.”
That is what the Lampstand Initiative is about. God put Crossroads on the first corner people see when they come off the freeway into Rose Glen, and he has given us a congregation that can keep that light where everyone can see it.
You may not always see what your faithfulness does. Here is some of it.
More than 1,700 meals every month
Our food pantry puts them into the hands of families from Rose Glen and across the city.
Tutoring help for neighborhood kids
Through the tutoring program we sponsor, kids from this neighborhood sit down with someone who works through their schoolwork with them, one problem at a time.
People at the table for Rose Glen
This fall Crossroads brought together the churches, the senior living community, and city and county leaders, so this neighborhood has people who will not stop asking for its good.
Real, authentic community
Our growth groups are connecting people across Crossroads to real, authentic community, most notably our young adults and young married couples. We continue to see lives changed. We are seeing the extraordinary move of God through the ordinary means of gospel-centered preaching and church life.
The lights on Moorpark are back on
For years the lights along Moorpark Avenue and across our parking lot sat broken because we did not have the money to fix them. This year two families gave fifty thousand dollars to repair them and make much-needed repairs so we can use our campus to greater effect.
Most of us do not live in Rose Glen. We drive in on Sunday and drive home afterward. But when God’s people found themselves in a city they had not chosen, he told them through Jeremiah to seek its welfare, “for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” None of this happens without your giving.
Nonprofits across the country look to year-end generosity for up to a third of their annual budget, and Crossroads is no different. Reaching our goal closes out this year well and lets us walk into 2027 ready for the people God is sending us. It is more than we have asked of you before, but last year you gave beyond our goal, and we are asking with confidence that you will do it again.
